Village Harmony

New England Teen Residential Camp – August 3-12, 2018 – $775

Date: August 3-12, 2018
Venue: Ricki Carroll's House and Barn
Leaders: Mary Cay Brass, John Mark Harrison, Jeremy Carter-Gordon
Price: $775

This is our nine-day camp, especially geared for teenagers new to Village Harmony, as well as for those who don’t have time to commit three weeks to a traveling camp.

During the first seven days, singers get to know one another, singing 7-8 hours a day as they absorb the basics of new vocal styles and prepare a concert program. The session will culminate with performances on the final Saturday evening in Ashfield and Sunday afternoon in Westminster West, Vermont.

Mary Cay Brass will share songs from her life- long love of music from Macedonia, Bosnia and Croatia. She will also lead a camp band—made up of those singers who are able to bring their instruments to camp—to learn a dance song or two.

Long-time VH leader John Harrison will bring his lively arrangements of acapella gospel, vocal jazz and traditional shape note songs.

And Jeremy Carter Gordon, who has been singing with Village Harmony since he was a teenager himself, will teach traditional songs from the UK and the American civil rights movement.

The camp will be in residence at Ricki Carroll’s delightful, spacious house and grounds in the center of Ashfield village in western Massachusetts.  There is a wonderful swimming lake a few blocks away and $1 ice cream cones just up the street.
