Our venue for the coming summer’s New England residential adult camp will again be Buxton School in Williamstown, Mass, which has a beautiful campus with several excellent singing and dancing spaces and a range of accommodations.
The camp will feature a particularly exciting trio of popular Village Harmony leaders.
Veteran camp leader Suzannah Park will bring her appealing mix of traditional Appalachian songs, sea shanties, gospel songs and Appalachian clogging. One of our most popular directors, Suzannah’s infectious love of people and singing and her amazing enthusiasm always pervade the camps she leads.
Matlakala Bopape, from Polokwane in the northeastern province of Limpopo, South Africa, is a musical and social mover-shaker. Matlakala has been organizing camps in South Africa for Village Harmony since 2003 and has taught in Europe, the UK and the US with us nearly every year since then. She will be leading an infectious set of South African folk, political and church songs.
Gideon Crevoshay, born in the hills of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, grew up singing and traveling with Village Harmony around the globe. He will teach from his repertoire of traditional and ancient forms of singing from the US, Caucasus, and Mediterranean.
Basic rooms are shared (4-bed) occupancy. Participants can choose to reserve single or double rooms for a supplemental fee of $100 or $50, respectively.
The camp will conclude with two concerts: Friday night at Buxton School, and Saturday afternoon, an hour’s drive east, in Ashfield Mass.
