Brooklyn World Music ChorusThe Brooklyn World Music Chorus is currently in its fifth year.

The once-a-month non-auditioned, inter-generational community choir is led by VH co-director Patty Cuyler in partnership with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. The choir meets from 1-4 pm one Sunday a month, with a concert following the final rehearsal. Rehearsals take place at the BYC headquarters, 179 Pacific Street, Brooklyn.

We rehearse one Sunday a month, from 1-4 pm. Rehearsals for the fall/winter  ’16-’17 semester are:

 October 2 • November 6 • December 4 • January 8The semester will culminate with a pot-luck dinner and a 5:30pm concert on January 8th.

Repertoire is authentic, challenging choral music chosen from traditions from across the globe: South Africa, the Republic of Georgia, Corsica, Ukraine, South America, Scandanavia, and the Balkans, as well as American folk genres.

The chorus is open to both teen and adult singers. Fluent music-reading and prior singing experience are NOT necessary to participate, although singers need to be able to match pitch and comfortably hold their own part when singing in harmony.

The cost of participation is $100 adults / $75 teens for the four-session semester.
